Bob's admiration of the visual arts is founded in the theatre and his love of the movement of dancers and musicians. The variety of his paintings reflects life's rich drama.
Bob Blake has returned to painting after a break of some forty years, during which time he has been involved with the Dramatic Arts at RAODS and its own theatre The Plaza. Bob's father, Ken Blake, was a founder member of the South London Artists and the Lewisham and Greenwich Art Group as well as a regular exhibitor at the RA Summer Exhibition.
Bob inherited his father's studio contents plus over 200 paintings and drawings in 2012 and decided to continue the family talent if only as a mere shadow.
Bob had obtained his Diploma in Art and Design at the London College of Printing in the 1960's and now in mature years is trying to revitalise his love of art with help from his gene pool. He likes to work on a dark back ground using a lighter colour to sketch the outline of the subject and retaining the sketch lines as part of the composition.
